Our Westerly Dental Office & The Advanced Technology We Use

Wells Street Dental uses modern dental technology at every appointment since it produces more accurate diagnoses, better-fitting restorations, and a more comfortable experience for patients. Here is what we use and what it means for your care.

A Space Designed for Patient Comfort

The environment at Wells Street Dental is designed to feel calm and welcoming, not clinical or corporate.

The treatment areas are thoughtfully arranged, well maintained, and free from the sterile, impersonal feel that makes many dental offices uncomfortable to be in. This is a practice that has been part of Westerly for over 120 years, and the space reflects that continuity. Patients frequently say it feels more like home than a dental office, which is exactly the intention.

The Technology We Use at Every Appointment

From same-day crowns to AI-assisted diagnostics, every tool here was selected because it makes care better.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns

CEREC allows us to design, mill, and place a permanent dental crown in a single appointment. The crown is fabricated from durable ceramic in-office using a digital scan of the prepared tooth—no temporary crown in most cases, no second visit, no waiting on an outside lab. For patients who have been through the traditional two-visit crown process, the difference is immediately apparent.

Digital Impressions

We use digital impressions in place of physical molds for cosmetic and restorative treatment planning. A small handheld scanner captures precise images of the teeth and bite relationship quickly and comfortably—no trays, no material to hold while it sets. The data feeds directly into the CEREC fabrication workflow and treatment planning, producing more accurate results with fewer variables.

Cavitron Ultrasonic Scalers

The Cavitron is an ultrasonic instrument used during hygiene appointments to break up and remove calculus deposits from tooth surfaces and below the gumline. It covers surfaces more thoroughly than hand scaling alone and with less physical pressure—most patients find it more comfortable than a conventional cleaning. Our hygiene team uses Cavitron as a standard part of every appointment.

CBCT Imaging

Cone beam CT imaging gives our team a three-dimensional view of the teeth, jaw, and surrounding bone structure — detail that a standard X-ray cannot provide. This allows for more precise diagnosis and treatment planning across a range of procedures where a fuller picture of the anatomy matters.

Overjet AI Diagnostics

Overjet is an AI-assisted diagnostic tool that analyzes dental X-rays to help identify areas of concern with greater consistency. It supports clinical judgment rather than replacing it, adding a detection layer at the examination stage that helps our team catch concerns earlier, before they require more involved treatment.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer screening is included as a standard component of every comprehensive exam—no separate appointment, no added cost. The screening involves a brief visual and tactile review of the oral tissues for any irregularities worth monitoring or referring. Early detection significantly affects outcomes, which is why it is part of every visit rather than an occasional add-on.
