Wells Street Dental Celebrates Grand Reopening and Rebranding, Honoring Over 140 Years of Dental Excellence in Westerly

Westerly, RI – Wells Street Dental celebrated over 140 years of providing trusted dental care to the community with the unveiling of its refreshed identity and space. The grand reopening event brought together patients, local leaders, and members of the Chamber of Commerce to tour the newly refreshed space, meet the team, and enjoy light bites and family-friendly fun. More than a celebration, the event reflected Wells Street Dental’s enduring commitment to heartfelt, patient-centered care; the same trusted service the community has relied on for generations.

Founded in 1881 by Dr. Albert H. Spicer, the practice had been a cornerstone of Westerly’s healthcare landscape for generations. From its early offices in the Briggs Building to the construction of the Medical Arts Offices at 11 Wells Street in 1960, the practice evolved while maintaining its dedication to modern, compassionate care.

“The celebration was a wonderful opportunity to honor both our history and our future,” said Dr. Adam S. Kaufman, D.M.D. “From Dr. Spicer’s first office in 1881 to our rebranded, modern practice today, one thing has never changed: our commitment to this community and to every smile that walks through our door.”

Over the decades, the practice grew through the contributions of multiple generations of dentists, including Drs. Albert H. Spicer Jr., Albert D. Spicer, Arthur P. Hotchkiss, and Dr. Kaufman himself, who, along with Dr. Woodward, introduced Westerly’s first family dentistry practice in 1991. In 2024, Wells Street Dental joined Resolute Dental Partners, a local, doctor owned, family of dental practices dedicated to providing patient-centric care and clinical excellence, further expanding the practice’s resources and capabilities.

The arrival of Dr. Satpal Jutla in 2025, following his distinguished service in the U.S. Air Force, brought both continuity and fresh energy to the practice. Reflecting on his new role, Dr. Jutla shared, “I’m honored to join Wells Street Dental and carry forward its deep tradition of caring for this community. My goal is to combine that legacy with modern approaches to dentistry, ensuring every patient feels seen, cared for, and confident in their smile.”
